Welcome to the Computer and Information Science Department


The Computer and Information Science (CIS) program is designed to prepare students for successful careers in the dynamic field of Information Science and Technology. The department seeks to achieve this mission by the following objectives (I) Imparting knowledge and skills needed in an ever changing world of information technology (II) Providing opportunities for students to develop their abilities to think critically, and reason logically (III) Nurturing students and helping them in job placement and/or prepare them for graduate studies.


The Department of Computer and Information Science at Clark Atlanta University promotes education, research, and outreach in Information Security through the Information Security Research and Education Laboratory (ISREL). Recently, the Committee on National Security System (CNSS) and the National Security Agency (NSA) have certified that Clark Atlanta University offers a set of courseware that has been validated by National Level Information Assurance Subject Matter Experts and determined to meet National Training Standard for Information Systems Security Professionals (NSTISSI 4011 & 4014).
